Audiowood's Environmental Policy All consumer products take an environmental toll through the use of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and transport. But, recognizing the inevitability of environmental impacts should not be used as a cop out. We destroy in order to make, but we can still do much to minimize our negative impact on wildlife and human life. Audiowood's aim is to try to work in the right direction by making and selling things that are less taxing on the earth. As a retailer, we are interested in products that feature some or all of the following: USA-based manufacturing. Not all brands we carry meet all these standards, but every one has at least one of these points in its favor, or has at least one product with eco-credentials. As far as Audiowood products are concerned, we are doing our best to make things that you can feel good about owning: When possible, reclaimed, recycled, sustainably-harvested or non-endangered wood products are used. And scrapwood is re-purposed when possible. Amplifiers are generally low-power tube or high-efficiency class-d. Toxics are disposed of properly and/or recycled. Packaging is recycled, recyclable and/or biodegradable whenever possible. Many of our turntable components are eco-friendly: lead-free brass, non-toxic shot, and plant-based composites are generally used. Non-toxic, low-voc finishes are used when possible. Our choice of suppliers is partly determined by their environmental policies and practices. All that said, we haven't figured out how to do everything perfectly. We still use some new plastic bags, and certain materials we use don't really have green equivalents yet, for example. But we hope to minimize these transgressions over time and work with our suppliers and other manufacturers to make great Òeco-audioÓ products. We're not perfect, but we hope we're going in the right direction.
